Pitino impressed with Louisville's Jurich

Rick Pitino told ESPN.com Sunday that no agreement was reached with Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich after their weekend meeting in South Florida.

Jurich met with the former Boston Celtics and Kentucky Wildcats coach on Saturday.

Pitino told Jurich he would call him after his work as an analyst for Tuesday's opening-round game of the NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio.

"I was really impressed with him," Pitino said. "He has a great passion for winning. It went real well. He was one of the nicest people in the sports world. C.M. Newton (the former Kentucky AD) told me I would feel that way."

Pitino said no agreement is imminent because of his contract to work for CBS during the NCAA Tournament. Pitino will work the first two rounds on-site, then will be at the Final Four in Minneapolis as a studio analyst.

Jurich confirmed Monday that Pitino's work schedule will determine when the two talk next.

"Nothing is done, but there will be ongoing dialogue," Jurich said. "He has agreed to visit campus. We're trying to set up a time. If I said when (he would visit), I would be inaccurate. It could happen in an hour, it could happen next week. A lot of things are tied to his commitment to CBS."

Jurich made Pitino his No. 1 target to replace the retired Denny Crum. The Hall of Fame coach was nudged into retire two weeks ago.

Louisville's season ended with a first-round loss to Alabama-Birmingham in the Conference USA tournament. Pitino told ESPN.com last week that he didn't think he would have any reservations about coaching at Louisville after leading Kentucky to a national title before leaving for Boston.

Pitino quit as the Celtics coach in January.

Pitino said the only schools that have contacted him about openings are Louisville, UNLV and Rhode Island. He has ruled out coaching the Runnin' Rebels and Rams.
