Devoe in search of more playing time

SEATTLE -- Sophomore Ben Devoe is leaving Washington after
final exams conclude Dec. 18, coach Lorenzo Romar said Monday.

The 6-foot-11 center will transfer in search of more playing
time but hasn't said where he plans to go. Devoe played one game
this season, scoring on his only shot during a three-minute stint
Nov. 24 against UC Riverside.

Devoe, from Olympia (Wash.) High, joined the Huskies as a
walk-on in January 2002 and redshirted the remainder of that
season. He was awarded a scholarship before the 2002-03 season.

Devoe played in six games last year, scoring two points with
four rebounds.

"It was a pleasure to see Ben work really hard and make
progress while he was here," Romar said. "He has made a decision
that he feels is in the best interest for his basketball future,
and we support him 100 percent."
