Rhode Island suspends point guard after bar fight

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- Rhode Island suspended point guard
Dawan Robinson from the team last month after he was
arrested following a bar fight.

Robinson was suspended by coach Jim Baron and the athletic
department on Sept. 24, the day he was arrested, the school
officials said Thursday.

They said the suspension will last until at least Nov. 24. The
coaching staff will review Robinson's status at that time,
including the outcome of any legal proceedings, athletic department
spokesman Mike Ballweg said.

Robinson, who sat out last season after leading the Rams to a
20-14 record and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament two
years ago, was arrested outside the Black Point Bar & Grille in
Narragansett. He is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting
arrest and failure to disperse, all misdemeanors.
