KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Trey McCorkle scored 28 points, including the go-ahead basket with 22 seconds left, as IPFW edged UMKC 76-73 on Saturday night to gain the last spot in the Summit League tournament.
McCorkle went 13 of 14 from the floor and blocked three shots for the Mastodons (11-18, 5-13), who secured the eighth seed as they broke an eight-game losing streak. Frank Gaines scored 26 points, including 10 of 12 free throws, and Justin Jordan added 10.
