MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Jarrett Stokes' 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining put Morehead State ahead to stay with the last of 16 lead changes in a 73-67 nonconference victory over Norfolk State on Monday night.
Brandon Goode got an offensive rebound of Malcolm Hawkins' missed 3-pointer on the next possession for the Spartans (2-5), but Kahlil Owens stole it from him and Morehead State was able to put the game away at the free throw line.
Hawkins scored 18 points to lead Norfolk State, which has played all its games on the road. Kris Brown added 13 points and Jamal Fuentes had 11 assists.
Dylan Howard coached Morehead State. Sean Woods sat out a one-game suspension by the school for berating and shoving Atkinson during a loss to Kentucky last Wednesday.
