TOLEDO, Ohio -- Rian Pearson netted a career-high 30 points as Toledo topped Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 80-68 Wednesday night in a nonconference game.
Pearson hit 16 of 20 free-throw attempts, while going 6 of 9 from the field and 2 for 2 on 3-pointers. He also had eight rebounds.
Johnathan Jordan led the Islanders (1-4) with 22 points, including a 12 of 14 showing from the line.
The Rockets pulled away early to an 18-9 advantage on Reese Holliday's jumper with 11:44 left in the half and led 27-17 on Dominique Buckley's 3-pointer with 7:45 left. Richard Wonnell made a layup with 2 seconds left to give Toledo a 44-30 lead at the break.
Toledo extended the lead as large as 22 points, 59-37, in the second half.
