NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Lamont Jones scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half as Iona rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Manhattan 78-70 Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.
A layup and two 3-pointers by Jones in the opening 1:15 of the second half gave the Gaels (9-6, 3-1) a 38-37 lead. After the Jaspers (4-10, 2-2) went back in front, Tre Bowman's 3-pointer with 12:56 remaining put Iona ahead to stay, 51-48.
The Gaels, who led the nation with 9.5 3-pointers per game, made 10 of 16, including 8 of 9 in the second half, although their leading 3-point shooter, Sean Armand, was just 1-for-5. Jones was 4-for-5 on 3s and 10-for-10 on free throws.
Colby College's Pat Dickert takes off from behind the free throw line and jams it home.
