WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Shane Reybold scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, his first career double-double, as North Carolina-Wilmington dominated Campbell 69-50 Tuesday night.
Campbell (4-4) tied the score at 7 on a Leek Leek layup at 14:42 in the first period. Reybold then made a layup that started a run for the Seahawks as they reeled off 14 unanswered points. Campbell never recovered as UNCW had a dominating 41-25 lead at the half.
Andrew Ryan's 3-point jumper with 6:01 remaining in the game closed the gap to 56-48. That was as close as the Camels could get.
The Seahawks outshot the Camels, hitting 27 of 52 field goals, compared to 21 of 58 for Campbell.
Kyre' Hamer led the Camels with 11 points.
Former Kentucky guard Ed Davender, the only Wildcat with at least 1,500 points and 400 assists, has died. He was 49.
Guard Naz Mitrou-Long, whose 2015-16 season ended in December due to hip problems, has been granted a hardship waiver for the coming season, Iowa State said.
As the Sooners look to life without superstar Buddy Hield and his sidekicks, it's clear their unseasoned players will need to grow up fast.
