CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Trent Wiedeman scored 17 points to lead College of Charleston to a 75-58 victory over Towson Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
It was the first victory for first-year Cougars' coach Doug Wojcik, who took over the reins of the program after the retirement of Bobby Cremins in March.
The Cougars shot 56.3 percent for the game, including 44.4 percent on 3-pointers. The winning margin could have been larger, but the Cougars shot only 58.6 percent from the free-throw line.
