ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Matthew Hezekiah's tip-in with one second left Wednesday night gave South Carolina State a 74-72 victory over Jacksonville in a nonconference thriller.
The tip-in by the 6-foot-11 Hezekiah, after a missed layup by Adama Adams, denied a furious last-minute comeback by the Dolphins (3-5). Jacksonville got three 3-point baskets in the final minute, the first and third by Dylan Fritsch (14 points) to tie it at 72-all. The Dolphins had fallen behind 45-30 at halftime.
The Bulldogs (4-3) jumped out to a 17-9 lead. They went up 25-12 midway through the half, leading by as many as 17 points.
Kendrick Nunn, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic battery last week, has been dismissed from the Illinois basketball team.
Delaware has hired Notre Dame assistant Martin Ingelsby as its next men's basketball head coach, sources told ESPN's Jeff Borzello.
