DURHAM, N.C. -- Ray Willis posted 19 points to go with five rebounds and three steals as North Carolina Central beat Morgan State 69-61 Monday in Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference play for the Eagles' sixth straight win.
NC Central (13-7, 6-0) trailed 17-15 before using an 11-2 run to jump ahead 26-19. Morgan State cut the deficit to two but the Eagles outscored the Bears 15-6 over the final 6:33 to take a 42-31 advantage into the break.
NC Central shot 48 percent (20 of 42) and converted 26 of 33 free throws. The Eagles have made 20-plus free throws in three of their last four games.
