WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Shivaughn Wiggins scored 16 points Thursday night to lead Mount St. Mary's over Monmouth 77-63 in a Northeast Conference game.
The Mountaineers (15-13, 10-7), who've won six straight, opened on an 8-0 run and led 22-12 before Monmouth (10-20, 5-12) tied it 35-35 at halftime. In the second half, the Mountaineers went on a big, balanced run to lead 76-57 with 4:24 to play.
Mount St. Mary's shot 27 for 55 from the floor (49.1 percent) to Monmouth's 22 of 59 (37.3 percent). The Mountaineers were 8 for 24 on 3-pointers, Monmouth 3 of 14.
