WASHINGTON (AP) -- Gerald Riley scored 28 points and Georgetown used hot outside shooting for an 83-36 victory over Grambling State Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Riley made all five of his 3-point attempts, and opened the game with three in a row for Georgetown, which reeled off 14 straight points to start the game and extended its lead to 42 points by halftime. Brandon Bowman added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks for the Hoyas.

Brion Rush led the Tigers with 14 points.

Grambling's zone defense was no match for Georgetown's perimeter game. The Hoyas shot 54 percent from the field, and were 7-for-11 from 3-point range.

Grambling missed shots, rebounds and passes, and finished with just 13 field goals. Unable to slow Georgetown's offense, the Tigers turned physical, ending the game with 23 personal fouls.
