Nelson scores 17 for Chippewas

SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Joe Carr nailed a 3-pointer at
the buzzer as Central Michigan shocked No. 20 Notre Dame, 69-68.

The Chippewas, who rallied from a five-point deficit in the
final 20 seconds, trailed, 68-66, after Jordan Cornette made
1-of-2 free throws with four seconds left.

But Carr nailed a shot from the top of the arc to stun the
Fighting Irish (2-2), who lost a second straight game. They had
their first setback on Monday at Marquette.

Kevin Nelson scored 17 points and Brandon Voorhees added 13 for
Central Michigan (2-4), which had lost its first two all-time
contests against Notre Dame.

Chris Thomas had 24 points to pace the Irish, who held a 64-59
lead after the point guard nailed a jumper with 27 seconds left.
