    ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Drake Diener scored a career-high 27 points and Delonte Holland added 20 as DePaul defeated Memphis 82-73 Tuesday night in Conference USA action.

    Sammy Mejia added 14 points for the Blue Demons (8-6, 1-2).

    The two teams were tied at 8 early in the first half. Then Mejia hit a 3-pointer with 14:41 to go and DePaul started to pull away. With 4:42 to play in the half, Diener, whose previous high was 20 points, hit a 3 to give the Blue Demons a 40-17 lead.

    The Blue Demons took their largest lead of the game with 2:24 to play in the first half when Diener hit his sixth 3-pointer of the game to make it 48-24.

    The Tigers (9-4, 0-2) went on an 11-4 run late in the game, but it was too little too late. With 34 seconds to play, Aaron Burke hit a basket to cut the lead to 80-73. Memphis could get no closer in the second half.

    Sean Banks led Memphis with 22 points and Anthony Rice added 14.

    Memphis had trouble finding the basket, hitting only 34.8 percent of its shots for the game compared to 49.1 percent for DePaul. Memphis was even colder from behind the 3-point line, hitting just 8-of-37 shots. Meanwhile, DePaul made of 9-of-16 attempts from behind the line.
