TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Brody Deren scored 15 points and Kellen
Miliner added 11, including going 3-of-3 from 3-point range, to
help Creighton to a 61-44 victory over Indiana State on Wednesday
The Bluejays (15-2, 7-2 Missouri Valley Conference) outrebounded
Indiana State 39-17 and shot 53 percent for the night, while the
Sycamores (8-9, 4-5) could manage only 41 percent.
The game was tied three times before the Bluejays took control
for good with Joe Dabbert's layup with 9:13 remaining in the first
half to make it 14-12 Creighton.
The Bluejays, who also got 11 points from Nate Funk, boosted
their lead into the double-digits in the closing minutes of the
half and never surrendered it. At the half, they held a 30-18
Creighton outscored Indiana State 30-18 in the paint.
The Sycamores had only two players in double-digits, with Catrel
Green scoring 11 points and Eric Cray adding 10.
