PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- David Hawkins had 19 of his 28 points in the
first half to lead Temple to its season-high fourth straight win, a
59-53 victory over Georgetown on Saturday.
Mardy Collins added 17 points and tied his season high with four
steals to help the Owls (11-10) over .500 for the first time this
season.Gerald Riley had 15 points, Ashanti Cook added 12 and Courtland
Freeman 11 for the Hoyas (13-8), who have lost eight of 11 games
since winning their first 10.Georgetown did not register a field goal for the first 9:08 of
the second half (0-for-12).Collins and Antywane Robinson each hit a 3-pointer during a 12-4
run that increased Temple's lead from six to 14 with 11:07
remaining.Just over a minute later, Georgetown's Matt Causey grabbed a
rebound and accidentally elbowed the Owls' Micheal Blackshear.
There was no call on the play or on the other end of the floor when
Collins elbowed Causey in retaliation.Blackshear then threw a forearm that knocked Causey to the
floor.Blackshear was whistled for an intentional foul, but was not
ejected by the officials. Temple coach John Chaney had the final
say, taking Blackshear out of the game and sending him to the
locker room.Georgetown shot 31.5 percent on the day.
