Creighton 75, Wichita State 61


OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Mike Grimes scored 16 points and Michael
Lindeman added 15 as Creighton defeated Wichita State 75-61 Monday
night, ending a three-game losing streak for the Bluejays.

The game closes the regular season for Creighton who is now 20-7
overall and 12-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Wichita State
is 20-9 and 12-6.

In the first half the Shockers led 15-12 with 8:33 left, but
Creighton went on a 14-2 run, led by Grimes who scored six points,
including a baseline dunk. By halftime, Creighton led 35-29.

Wichita State pulled within seven points two times -- the last on
a dunk by Jamar Howard with 11:32 left. But the Bluejays outscored
Wichita State by nine over the next three minutes and WSU got no
closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Howard led the Shockers with 18. Randy Burns added 11.

Joe Dabbert added 13 and Nate Funk had 12 points for the

Creighton's Brody Deren led all players with 10 rebounds.

The two teams now get ready for the MVC Tournament in St. Louis,
which begins Friday.
