HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) -- Rob Monroe scored a career-high 41 points,
notched six assists and grabbed nine rebounds Sunday as Quinnipiac
beat Longwood 102-93 in double overtime.
Monroe scored 32 points in regulation, including 12 in the
closing nine minutes to help the Bobcats overcome a 13-point
Freshman center Karl Anderson scored 20 points for the Bobcats,
including a layup with 4 seconds left in regulation to send the
game into overtime tied 75-75. He added 11 rebounds.
Michael Jefferson paced Longwood (1-17) with 24 points,
including a 50-foot basket that sent the game into the second
overtime tied 87-87. Jefferson also had 14 rebounds and eight
Hussein Pistoljevic had 19 points and Lamar Barrett 15 points
and 11 rebounds for the Lancers.
Five players fouled out for Longwood, which was called for 40
Charles Matthews, who spent his freshman season at Kentucky, has picked Michigan as his transfer school, according to a source.
