Penn State 65, Northwestern 62

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Danny Morrissey scored 16 points and
Mike Walker had 15 and hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining to
help preserve a 65-62 Penn State win over Northwestern Saturday.

Geary Claxton and Travis Parker each contributed 13 points to
help the Nittany Lions (7-11, 1-4 Big Ten) to their first Big Ten
win since a 63-61 overtime victory over the Wildcats (8-9, 1-4) on
Jan 28.

Northwestern went on a late 14-4 run, with Davor Duvancic
contributing six points, to cut the lead to 63-62 with three
seconds to play, but Parker hit two free throws to preserve the

In a game dominated by back-and-forth 3-point shooting, the
Lions managed to get more long-range shots to fall in the second
half, shooting 14-of-26 (53 percent) on the game, led by Walker's
5-of-9 from behind the arc.

With the Wildcats up 32-31 early after halftime, the Lions got
five straight 3-pointers to pull ahead 46-38.

Northwestern was led by Vedran Vukusic's 17 points and also got
14 from Vince Scott, 12 from Mohamed Hachad and 11 from Duvancic.
