MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Derek Raivio wasn't afraid to take some big shot for Gonzaga.

Raivio made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead Gonzaga to an 82-75 victory over Pepperdine on Thursday night.

"He's a fearless shooter," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "He's got a confidence in that shot that carries over to all of us."

Ronny Turiaf scored 20 points, and Adam Morrison added 19 to help the Bulldogs (18-4, 8-2) take sole possession of first place in the West Coast Conference, a half-game ahead of Saint Mary's.

Yakhouba Diawara had 24 points for Pepperdine (13-12, 3-7), including consecutive 3-pointers in the final minute that pulled the Waves to 77-75 with 38 seconds left.

But Turiaf and Erroll Knight combined to hit five of six free throws in the final seconds for Gonzaga (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today; No. 14 AP), while Pepperdine missed its last three attempts from the field.

Raivio hit a 3-pointer with 13:28 left to start a 7-2 Gonzaga run after Pepperdine had closed to 51-49. Raivio also made a 3-pointer with 4:32 to go after Pepperdine used an 11-2 run to pull within a point at 65-64.

Alex Acker added 19 points for Pepperdine.

Gonzaga, the conference's leading rebounding team, outrebounded Pepperdine 47-22.

Gonzaga was 14-of-20 from the line, while Pepperdine was 13-of-22.

"If we make our free throws and get our rebounds, we win that game," Diawara said.
