WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pops Mensah-Bonsu had 18 points, three blocks
and three steals to lead George Washington to an 80-63 victory over
Richmond on Saturday.
The win, in front of a sellout crowd at the Smith Center, was
the third straight for the Colonials (15-5, 7-3) and kept them in
first place in the West Division of the Atlantic 10.Reserve J.R. Pinnock had 16 points, Omar Williams 15 and Mike
Hall added 11 points and 14 rebounds for George Washington.The Colonials' bench outscored Richmond's 36-17.Kevin Steenberge had 19 points and Andres Sandoval added 10 for
the Spiders (11-11, 6-5), who lost their second straight game.Richmond was 2-for-18 from 3-point range and was outscored 42-30
in the paint.Trailing by as many as 13 points in the first half, Richmond
used a 10-3 run, including a 3 by Sandoval at the buzzer, to get
within 37-34 at halftime.Richmond won the teams' earlier meeting by 11 points.
