TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Tony Tate scored 34 points and helped
spark a second-half rally Monday that gave Florida A&M an 82-71 win
over Morgan State.
Tate scored seven points during an 18-5 run that put Florida A&M
ahead 73-61. Morgan State never drew closer than eight the rest of
Darius Glover added 18 points, including 14 in the second half,
for Florida A&M (11-13, 8-7 MEAC).
Florida A&M won its fourth straight game, while Morgan State
lost its second in a row, dropping to 2-12 on the road.
Morgan State led by as many as eight points in the first half,
though a late Florida A&M run narrowed the halftime margin to
30-29. The teams traded the lead nine times in the second half
before Florida A&M's Michael Sams hit a 3-pointer to give the
Rattlers a 58-56 lead and starting the 18-5 run.
Tate scored 19 of his points in the second half.
Former Kentucky guard Ed Davender, the only Wildcat with at least 1,500 points and 400 assists, has died. He was 49.
Guard Naz Mitrou-Long, whose 2015-16 season ended in December due to hip problems, has been granted a hardship waiver for the coming season, Iowa State said.
As the Sooners look to life without superstar Buddy Hield and his sidekicks, it's clear their unseasoned players will need to grow up fast.
