BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Ayinde Ubaka had 29 points, six assists and four rebounds, and Omar Wilkes added 25 points to lead California to a 106-62 win over Division II Humboldt State in an exhibition game Monday night.

The Golden Bears played without forward Leon Powe, who was scratched from the lineup 20 minutes before tip-off because of an injured right foot. Powe, the Pac-10's top freshman in 2003, sat out last season after undergoing two operations on his left knee. He took part in the pregame shootaround but was pulled from the lineup by coach Ben Braun.

A team spokesman said Powe has a stress reaction, which is a precursor to a stress fracture, and will undergo a CT scan on Tuesday. A decision is expected Wednesday regarding his status for Cal's season-opener Friday at Eastern Michigan.

The Bears are already expected to without center Rod Benson (foot), the team's leading scorer and rebounder a year ago, and key reserve Martin Smith (hip) in the opener.

Ubaka, who missed 11 games last season with a broken left foot, has not scored more than 13 points in two seasons for the Bears but went 7-for-12 from the floor and made 11 of 12 free throws against the Lumberjacks. He had 16 points in a seven-minute span in the first half and fed Richard Midgley for a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that put California ahead 54-29 at halftime.

Midgley nearly joined his teammates on the injured list after getting hit in the head following a 3-point shot. Midgley was taken to the locker room and received two stitches in his forehead, but returned and finished with 17 points.

Midgley and Ubaka combined for 34 points in the first half for California, which shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Bears continued to shoot well in the second half and led by as much as 52 points en route to the easy win.

Kevin Johnson had 11 points and six rebounds to lead Humboldt State. Grayson Moyer added 10 points and seven rebounds.
