EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Georgetown had 12 3-pointers, including
five from Darrel Owens, in a 76-64 victory against UTEP in the Sun
Bowl tournament championship Wednesday night.
Owens was 5-for-5 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 overall to lead
all scorers with 21 points, and he boosted the Hoyas (8-2) by
hitting three consecutive 3s in the last three minutes of the first
Georgetown, which has won five straight since losing to No. 6
Illinois earlier this month, made 12 of 20 3-pointers and shot 58
percent. Eight of the 3-pointers came in the first half.
John Tofi led the Miners (7-3) with 20 points and nine rebounds.
UTEP, which shot 45.1 percent, never got closer than its

percent in the second half. The Miners trailed by seven after a
basket by Edgar Moreno with 9:05 remaining, but Jeff Green hit a
3-pointer to push the Hoyas' lead back to 10.
Brandon Bowman followed Owens with 15 points, despite going
0-for-3 from 3-point range. He led Georgetown with nine rebounds
and three steals. Jonathan Wallace (13 points) was 3-of-5 on
3-pointers, and Ashanti Cook (11) was 2-of-3 from long range.
UTEP's Kevin Henderson had 18 points on 5-on-7 shooting,
including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
