CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- Tony Young scored 17 points, including nine from three-point range, and Jamaal Tatum added 14 Monday night to lead Southern Illinois to a 58-49 win over Wichita State.

Young hit five of 10 from the field and all four if his free throws for the Salukis (9-3, 2-0 Missouri Valley), who were 13-of-15 from the foul line in the second half.

Wichita State's Paul Miller led all scorers with 24 points and tied for a game-high nine boards with Southern Illinois' Randal Falker. The Shockers (11-3, 2-1) led 23-21 at halftime, but were outshot 45.8 percent to 26.1 percent after the break, hitting just one of eight from behind the arc.

Matt Shaw added 11 points and Bryan Mullins had 10 for Southern Illinois.

Earlier Monday, Southern Illinois coach Chris Lowery announced that junior Mike Dale had left the team for personal reasons.

Dale, a 6-foot-5 guard from Fairview Heights hadn't played in the Salukis' previous two games. He averaged 9.4 points as a starter in the team's first five games.
