RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- B.A. Walker hit a 17-foot jumper at the
buzzer as Virginia Commonwealth beat Drexel 62-60 on Saturday,
bringing to an end the Dragons' six-game winning streak.
Drexel (9-6, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 60-50
with 3:49 remaining, but scored 10 straight to tie it with 15
seconds left. Walker's jumper capped off a 19-point performance and
snapped a two-game losing streak for the Rams (9-4, 3-2), who are
7-0 at home.
Nick George led the Rams with 22 points. He scored 10 straight
as the Rams went up 13-6 six minutes into the first half. George's
3-pointer put VCU up 26-13 with 3:59 to go before halftime. The
Rams led 30-22 at the break.
Dominick Mejia had 24 for Drexel, who had been the only unbeaten
team left in the CAA.
