CINCINNATI (AP) -- Freshman Devan Downey scored 21 points to help Cincinnati snap a three-game losing streak with a 71-66 win over Rutgers on Sunday.

Eric Hicks scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his 20th career double-double for the Bearcats (14-5, 3-2 Big East). Seniors James White and Chadd Moore also reached double figures for Cincinnati, which hadn't won since senior Armein Kirkland suffered a season-ending knee injury.

White scored 14, including a 3-pointer from the right corner with 4:31 left that gave the Bearcats the lead for good. Moore added a season-high 11, including two free throws in the last minute.

The win was Cincinnati's first over an established Big East team since the Bearcats switched from Conference USA this season. They previously had lost to Connecticut and Syracuse while beating former Conference USA opponents DePaul and Marquette.

Rutgers senior Quincy Douby, who was leading the Big East with an average of 23.5 points per game, scored 19 to lead four Rutgers players in double figures. Jimmie Inglis scored a career-high 16, Marquis Webb added 11 and Anthony Farmer had 10. Rutgers (12-6, 2-3) has lost three of its last four games.

Downey scored 11 points in the second half, including the final five of a 14-3 Cincinnati run that left the Bearcats with their biggest lead, 50-38, with 12:04 left in the game.

The Scarlet Knights fought back to grab a 59-58 lead on Douby's driving layup with 4:42 left, setting up White's go-ahead 3-pointer.
