Valparaiso 99, Centenary 73

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- Dan Oppland and Seth Colclasure each
scored 23 points as Valparaiso defeated Centenary 99-73 Thursday
night in a Mid-Continent Conference game.

Centenary took a 7-1 lead early in the game after a jumper by
Chris Watson, but the Crusaders then went on 29-8 run over the next
10 minutes.

The Gents cut what had been a 15-point Valparaiso lead down to
six points early in the second half only to see the Crusaders go on
another big run -- 22-7 in about five minutes -- to take control of
the game.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Valparaiso (12-8,
5-5 Mid-Con), which outrebounded Centenary 43-24 and won the
turnover battle 18-9 to gain a 34-4 advantage in points off

Watson led the Gents (4-17, 2-9) with 17 points, followed by
Clarke Jackson with 12 and Eric Holmes with 10.

Mohamed Kone added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Valparaiso.
