ATLANTA (AP) -- Miami used a balanced scoring attack to overcome
27 points by Georgia Tech's Anthony Morrow and beat the Yellow
Jackets 70-53 Saturday.
The loss left Georgia Tech with its first seven-game losing
streak in nine years.Guillermo Diaz scored 19 points to lead five Miami players
scoring in double figures.Miami (14-8 overall, 6-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won
three straight games and seven of its last nine.Tech (9-11 overall, 2-7 ACC) had not lost seven straight games
since the end of the 1996-97 season. The Yellow Jackets are under
.500 for the first time since the 2001-02 season.Miami took a big lead of 20 points at 68-48 late in the game
with back-to-back 3-pointers by Diaz and Robert Hite.Anthony King and Anthony Harris each had 11 points for Miami.
Hite and Raymond Hicks each had 10.Ra'Sean Dickey added 13 points for Tech.Morrow came within two points of his career high after being
held to 5 points in back-to-back games.Miami managed a 33-all halftime tie despite only two points from
Hite, who leads the team with 17 points per game.Miami opened the second half with a 15-4 run to lead 48-37. It
kept the lead in double figures the final 10 minutes, managing to
work the clock with multiple passes but still stretch the lead.
