FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Jai Lewis scored 19 points and George Mason
reached the 20-win plateau in the regular season for the second
time in school history with a 67-48 victory over Drexel on
Will Thomas added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Patriots
(20-5, 14-2 Colonial Athletic Association), who matched their best
regular-season mark since the 1983-84 season.
George Mason, which ranks sixth in the nation in field goal
percentage defense, held the Dragons (13-14, 7-9) to 31 percent
shooting to win for the 13th time in 14 games.
Dominick Mejia scored 13 points for Drexel, which has lost six
Lewis sparked a 7-0 run early in the second half as the Patriots
extended a six-point halftime lead to 37-24. George Mason pushed
the lead as high as 23 in the final minutes.
George Mason's Tony Skinn and Drexel's Kenell Sanchez were
ejected after an altercation with 5:41 remaining. It was unclear
after the game whether the referees had ruled they were fighting,
which would trigger an automatic one-game suspension for both
players under conference rules.
