Clark nets 29 as St. Peter's upends Manhattan in MAAC

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Keydren Clark scored 29 points to lead St.
Peter's to an 84-74 win over Manhattan College Sunday night in the
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals.

Raul Orta scored 18 while Todd Sowell had 10 points and eight
rebounds for the Peacocks (16-14), who advanced to their first MAAC
championship since 1999 and their first under sixth-year coach Bob
Leckie.

St. Peter's will face the winner of Iona vs. Marist in the
tournament's other semifinal.

Arturo Dubois scored 24 points and had nine rebounds for the
Jaspers (18-9), who entered the tournament as the top seed.

St. Peter's took the lead from Manhattan 24 seconds into the
second half on Kevin Spann's four-point play, making the score
43-41. The Peacocks never looked back and built an 11-point lead in
the first five minutes, 56-45.

Manhattan failed to score a field goal in the final three
minutes after closing to within four points, 78-74, on Dubois'
turnaround six-foot jumper.

St. Peter's last won the tournament title in 1995, beating
Manhattan in overtime.
