DENVER (AP) -- Joseph Jackson scored 18 points and DaShawn Walker had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lift Denver to a 74-68 victory Sunday over Northern Colorado for the Pioneers' first win of the season.
Steve Wetrich had 16 points and seven assists for Denver (1-3), which averted its first 0-4 start since 1962.
Denver led by as many as 18 in the second half, but the Bears chipped away at the lead. Archibeque made a layup with 1:22 left to get the Bears within five at 68-63 but Denver pulled away again on free throws.
