Washington State 66, Idaho State 60

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Derrick Low scored 22 points and Kyle Weaver and Daven Harmeling added 11 each Tuesday night to power Washington State to a 66-60 win over Idaho State.

Low made good on 8-of-14 shots in the game, scoring 12 points during a 22-3 Washington State run in the second half that gave the Cougars' a 59-43 lead. That stretch provided the first separation of any significance between the two teams after the Bengals (1-3) and Cougars (5-0) traded baskets through the early going.

Idaho State led 28-27 at the half as Washington State struggled with the Bengals' zone defense.

Ten minutes into the second half, Idaho State opened up a four-point lead, the largest of the game to that point, and first-year WSU coach Tony Bennett called a time out. The Cougars began their run after that and Idaho State never recovered.

WSU's Weaver also snagged eight rebounds, eight assists and a career-high five blocks.

Idaho State was led by the 19 points of guard David Schroeder and the play of guards Akbar Abdul-Ahad, who had 16 points and four steals, and Matt Stucki, who had 16 points and eight rebounds.
