FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Jason Smith scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds, his third straight double-double, as Colorado State held off North Dakota State 82-80 on Monday.
With 6:24 left to play, Colorado State had a 68-58 lead but North Dakota State tied it at 77-77 with just over a minute left.
Then Cory Lewis scored on a lay up and Tyler Smith made some free throws to give the Rams a 82-77 lead with 22 seconds left. Ben Woodside scored a three-pointer with five seconds to go to make it 82-80 but the Rams were able to put the ball in play and keep it out of the hands of the Bison as time ran out.
Woodside led the Bison with 20 points and six assists. Brett Winkelman added 18 points for North Dakota State.
Stuart Creason had 22 points for Colorado State.
The Rams will play Boise State on Friday.
