TROY, Ala. (AP) -- With 19 points, Richard Chaney led Troy to a 66-63 victory over Denver Thursday night at Trojan Arena.
Troy (9-12, 4-6 Sun Belt Conference) outscored Denver 15-1 over the last 7:43, including a pair of free throws by Sammy Sharp with 2.2 seconds remaining.
Chaney had 10 rebounds, giving him his sixth double-double of the season.
Denver led 51-41 with 12:52 to play after a 10-3 run at the start of the second half. The Pioneers led 62-51 when Troy made its comeback. The Trojans kept Denver from scoring for five minutes and cut the margin to two, at 62-60, with 4:11 left. Then, Joseph Jackson made a free throw shot, the last point of the night for Denver.
Cedric Jackson had a tip-in and Chaney hit a jumper for a 64-63 lead with 1:23 left. And Sharp preserved the victory.
