DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Brian Roberts scored 23 points and Dayton went on a 19-4 run in the final 4:07 to break a tie and beat George Washington 84-69 Wednesday night.
Among Roberts' points were four free throws in the final 1:31, shot after two technical fouls were called on George Washington coach Karl Hobbs.
The Flyers' Andres Sandoval scored 11 of his 21 points during the run and made eight of nine free throws for the game. Monty Scott and Charles Little added 10 points apiece for Dayton (14-7, 4-4 Atlantic 10). Roberts shot 4-for-4 on 3-pointers and 7-for-7 on free throws.
Dayton held the lead throughout the first period, going up by as much as 11 points, but George Washington cut the deficit to two by the half. The largest lead George Washington held in the second half was three.
Coming into the game, George Washington had sole possession of top spot in the Atlantic 10.
