MACOMB, Ill. (AP) -- David Jackson scored 17 points as Western Illinois posted a 45-42 come-from-behind win over Centenary on Thursday night for its first Mid-Continent Conference win of the season.
Jackson shot just 5-of-13 overall, including two 3-pointers, but hit 5-of-6 from the free throw line as the only Leathernecks scorer in double figures. The next-closet was Louis Johnson, who came off the bench to hit 4-of-4 from the free throw line and finish with eight points.
Neither team shone from the field, with Western Illinois (5-18, 1-7) shooting just under 37 percent for the game and Centenary (7-16, 1-7) not much better at an even 39 percent.
Tyrone Hamilton and reserve Alexander Starr led the Gents' scoring with 11 points apiece. The two had combined for 37 points in Centenary's 64-58 win over Western Illinois on Jan. 6 -- a game that marked the Gents' only conference win.
Centenary took a 26-22 lead into halftime, but was held to just 16 points on 7-of-19 (36.8 percent) shooting after the break despite outrebounding Western Illinois 34-25 for the game.
