STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Reginald Delk scored 18 points and blocked two shots to lead Mississippi State to an 85-78 win over LSU on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (12-9, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) went to the outside, attacking LSU's perimeter defense with 16 3-pointers in the first half alone. Mississippi State hit 48 percent from behind the arc, sinking a season-high 13 3-pointers.The Tigers (13-9, 2-6) outshot the Bulldogs in the opening half, going 61.5 percent from the field, but the two teams were tied at halftime thanks to Charles Rhodes' buzzer-beating layup.Glen Davis had a game-high 27 points for LSU and pulled down 10 rebounds, extending his league-leading double-double total to 12.But even Davis, this week's SEC player of the week, couldn't lead the Tigers to a win.The teams traded leads throughout the second half until Delk put the Bulldogs up by five with 6:40 left. Mississippi State never trailed again.Delk hit five from 3-point range.Dietric Slater had 15 points for the Bulldogs and Jamont Gordon added 14 points and seven assists. Rhodes chipped in 13 points and had three of the Bulldogs' nine blocks.Garrett Temple had 16 points and five assists for the Tigers and Terry Martin put 14 on the board.
