Mercer 69, North Florida 59

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Hrvoje Pervan scored 25 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Mercer to a 69-59 victory over North Florida on Sunday.

Shaddean Aaron added 14 points and Sam Dolan 12 for the Bears (13-14, 8-8 Atlantic Sun Conference).

Chris Timberlake had 16 points to lead North Florida (2-25, 0-16) and Cortez Riley added 13.

The Bears played without freshman James Florence who sat out a one-game suspension for becoming involved in an altercation at the end of Mercer's loss to Jacksonville on Friday night. Florence is the leading scorer in the A-Sun at 19.5 points per game.

North Florida led 32-30 at halftime and it wasn't until 8 minutes remained that Mercer took the lead for good, 50-48 on a layup by Aaron. The Bears stretched their lead to 16 points twice down the stretch, 65-49 with 1:58 left and 67-51 with 1:10 to play.
