ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- Reggie Williams scored 28 points to lead VMI to a 91-81 upset of High Point on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Big South tournament.
The sixth-seeded Keydets (14-18) advance to Saturday's championship game against top seed Winthrop with a shot at the school's first NCAA tournament bid since 1977.
VMI led by five at halftime, but Eugene Harris' 3-pointer put the No. 2 seed Panthers (22-10) ahead 52-50 with 16 minutes to go.
The Keydets retook the lead three minutes later on a jumper by Travis Holmes and would take a 72-64 lead with eight minutes left. High Point trailed by only two with 5:20 left after Mike Jefferson's 3-pointer, but VMI scored the next eight points to put the game away.
The two teams set a tournament record with 27 3-pointers and 69 attempts from behind the arc. The Panthers set a team record, making 15 3-pointers, while Harris matched the individual record for 3s by shooting 7-of-14 behind the arc.
Harris led High Point with 23 points, while Jefferson added 17 points.
Travis Holmes added 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Fred Robinson added 16 points for VMI.
