CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Seth Tarver scored a career-high 21 points and had eight rebounds as Oregon State defeated Idaho State 56-41 Friday night. Freshman Sean Carter added 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the Beavers (2-2).
The Beavers shot 33 percent but out-rebounded the Bengals by 15. The game started slowly. But the Bengals led by as many as 14 in the first half and 26-19 at the break.
Tarver, a sophomore, put the Beavers ahead for good with a lay-up off an offensive rebound to make it 36-35 with 12 minutes remaining.
The game was the opener of the Beaver Invitational, a three-team round-robin. The University of Portland plays Idaho State on Saturday and Oregon State on Sunday.
