Texas Tech 95, Northwestern St. 69

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- John Roberson scored a career-high 28 points to help Texas Tech beat Northwestern State 95-71 on Saturday.

Tech (7-5) snapped a two-game skid thanks in part to precise shooting by the Red Raiders and constant turnovers by the Demons. The Red Raiders shot 56 percent from the field, hitting seven 3-pointers, five by Roberson.

Martin Zeno and Alan Voskuil each scored 14 for the Red Raiders while Mike Singletary added 12.

Tech held a 9-point lead for most of the opening half until Roberson entered the game. The freshman guard scored 17 of his 28 points in the final 13 minutes of first half during a 24-9 run for the Red Raiders, making it 54-29 at the half.

Northwestern State (4-9) struggled with its ball-handling throughout the game against Bob Knight's man-to-man defense. The Demons turned the ball over 28 times, 17 in the first half, resulting in 32 points for the Red Raiders. Colby Bargeman led all Demon scorers with 17.

The 28 turnovers were a season-high by a Tech opponent. Tech's home opponents are averaging 23 turnovers per game through five contests this year.
