Georgia Southern 96, Coll. of Charleston 90

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- Freshman Willie Powers had 23 points and four others scored in double figure to lead Georgia Southern to a 96-90 win over College of Charleston in overtime on Thursday night.

The Cougars (7-8, 2-3 Southern Conference) sent the game into an extra period when Dustin Scott hit a jumper to tie the game at 80 with 13 seconds left.

But the Eagles (10-5, 3-2) opened overtime with a 13-7 run, taking a 93-87 lead with 1:17 remaining on a free throw by Matthew Fields, who finished with 18 points. Powers scored six points during the spurt.

Julian Allen scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Georgia Southern. Louis Graham added 14 points, while Dwayne Foreman had eight assists.

Tony White Jr. led the Cougars with 26 points, but had seven turnovers. Scott finished with 20 points, Andrew Goudelock scored 14, and Jermaine Johnson and Konimba Diarra each had 12.
