MONROE, La. (AP) -- Courtney Lee scored a game-high 23 points as Western Kentucky routed Louisiana-Monroe 71-44 in a Sun Belt Conference game held Thursday night.
The Hilltoppers (11-5, 3-1) capitalized on cold shooting by the Warhawks (6-10, 0-4), which shot a season-low 17 points in the first half and connected on just 23.8 percent of their shots for the game.
Louisiana-Monroe's Raphelle Turner scored the first points of the game on a lay-up with 19:20 on the clock before Western Kentucky rattled off 22 of the next 23 points. After 10 minutes of play, the Hilltoppers held a 22-3 lead and never looked back.
The Warhawks started to attack the basket and, after getting to the line 18 times in the final 10 minutes of the first half, ended the period trailing 34-17.
Louisiana-Monroe cut the lead to 15 points at 45-30 with 12:28 before Lee keyed a 10-0 Hilltopper run to push them back over 20 points for good.
Jordan Payne led Louisiana-Monroe with 16 points.
