PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jamie Jones connected on a short jump hook with 10 seconds to play to lift Portland State to a 76-75 win over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.
Fullerton had to a chance to win at the buzzer, but Gerard Anderson's heavily contested jumper fell short.Jones led Portland State (3-0) with 21 points. Andre Murray added 16 for the Vikings, who have won 12 straight home games.Josh Akognon paced Fullerton (2-2) with 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting. Anderson had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Titans and Aaron Thompson chipped in with 13 points.Portland State battled back from an 11-point deficit midway through the second half, tying the score at 66 when Tyrell Mara connected on a 3-pointer with 4:47 left. The Vikings took their first lead of the half when Kyle Coston hit a 3-pointer that gave them a 71-68 lead with 2:57 remaining.The teams exchanged leads down the stretch until Jones hit the game-winner.Both teams shot 40 percent. Fullerton outrebounded the Vikings 47-34 and shot 86 percent from the free-throw line. But the Titans tossed away those advantages by committing 25 turnovers.
