AMES, Iowa -- Sophomore forward Craig Brackins had 22 points and eight rebounds as Iowa State cruised past Mercer 67-49 on Wednesday.
Brackins, who was named the Big 12's Player of the Week on Monday, wasn't in the starting lineup for the first time this season. But he entered the game less than three minutes in and had 11 first-half points as Iowa State, behind a 16-3 run, jumped ahead 37-26.
Brackins made it 51-35 with an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Bryan Petersen, and his 3 with 8:18 left pushed Iowa State's lead to 58-41.
Brackins is averaging 26.5 points a game over his last four, including a 38-point outburst against Houston on Dec. 28.
James Florence had 15 points for Mercer (7-6), which fell for the third time in four games.
