Cal St.-Fullerton 86, Cal Poly-SLO 82

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Josh Akognon had 26 points and Cal State Fullerton went 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the closing 34 seconds to beat Cal Poly-SLO 86-82 Thursday night.

Fullerton (7-8, 1-2 Big West) got 19 points from freshman guard Jacques Streeter and Marcio Lassiter chipped in with 12.

Chaz Thomas scored 23 for Cal Poly (3-10, 0-3). The loss was the Mustangs' fifth in a row.

Cal Poly's Lorenzo Keeler made a layup with 46 seconds remaining to draw the Mustangs even at 81. But Akognon then made a pair of free throws with 34 seconds to go, Streeter made one with 20 seconds on the clock and Lassiter was good on two in the final second.

Cal Poly missed one free throw and three short field goal attempts in the closing 22 seconds.
