Northwestern tops Minnesota for first win vs. ranked team since '06
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Craig Moore slammed the ball in frustration and yelled at a teammate as they headed to a timeout, his frustration boiling over in the early going.By the end, he was all smiles.Moore hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to lead Northwestern over Minnesota (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) 74-65 Sunday for its first win against a ranked opponent in nearly three years.
• The Wildcats' 18-game losing skid against ranked opponents came to an end. This was Northwestern's first win over a ranked team since it defeated then-No. 18 Iowa on Feb. 8, 2006.
• Prior to Sunday's win, the Wildcats had lost 26 of their last 27 Big Ten regular-season games.
• Minnesota lost on the road for the first time this season, falling to 3-1 away from home.
