EMMITSBURG, Md. -- Shawn Atupem scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Mount St. Mary's of Maryland beat Monmouth of New Jersey 70-52 on Saturday night.
It was the sixth consecutive win for the Mountaineers (11-9, 6-3 Northeast Conference).
Mount St. Mary's limited Monmouth (6-15, 4-5) to 35.2 percent shooting from the field, and forced 19 turnovers.
Will Campbell was the only player to reach double-figures in scoring for Monmouth, finishing with 11 points. Travis Taylor added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who came in having won five of eight following a 1-11 start.
